Welcome to the NEW Home of
Abilene RC Society
Celebrating our 50th year as an AMA chartered club.
We are an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered radio control Club and our flying field is located in Sea Bee Park, on West Lake Road (FM 600). The flying field in Sea Bee Park has been approve by the FAA as a FAA Recognized Identification Area (a.k.a. approved FRIA). Abilene Radio Control Society (ARCS) was first charted in 1976 and has been going strong ever since. Our field is Dick Bowen's Field of Dreams, located in Sea Bee Park, just off of West Lake Road (FM 600) and on the edge Lake Fort Phantom Hill.
We are a diverse group of modelers whose interest span all facets of modeling, including electronics. We fly the traditional fixed wing aircraft, model helicopters, quad-copters, model jets, gliders, etc. These sUAS use either gravity, nitro engines, gas engines, electric motors, or kerosene powered miniature jet turbine engines. All of these model types fall into the category of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) as defined by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Our monthly club meetings are held, starting at 7pm, on the first Thursday of each month at the South Branch of Abilene Library, located in the Mall of Abilene on Buffalo Gap Road.
