Welcome to ARCS!!

Located in Abilene, Texas where the wind blows strong and straight down the runway. We have a great location with easy access and some of the best facilities in west Texas. We have a 400' concrete runway, covered pits, setup tables for helicopters, and a generous paved parking lot. Our club supports a variety of RC interests with our members having a wide range of skills and abilities. Many of our members are long time flyers and will give help and advice just for the asking.

ARCS DECALS!!

ARCS Decals are now offered by the club. Price is 4 dollars for  a small pair and 5 for the large pair. Get in touch with Joe Buie to get yours, he said that they would be with him anytime he's at the field......which is about anytime the weather is good.

Has it really been 35 years?

Hey, guys..

I was stationed at Dyess AFB from April '71 thru June '74.  Are there any club members who were around back then?  When I first came there, I was flying a blue and white Lanier Jester.  Then I built and flew a Top Flite Kwik Fli III.  Its wing was destroyed when the elevator servo died and the plane dove into the water to the southeast of the runway.  I then recovered the Jester wing with 1/64" plywood and Monokote and installed it on the Kwik Fli.  It flew much better with the tapered wing.  Some other planes I built and flew were a couple of DeBolt Jenny's, a Bridi Kaos which was destroyed when a battery failed, an XP40Q quarter midget that I scratch built from RCM plans, and a Southern R/C Bobcat.  I flew the XP40Q for quite some time and won a pylon race the club put on.  I'm still doing some flying, but I don't build as much as I did back then.  If you remember me, give me a shout.
